Prepare customer, purchase and behavioral data for analysis your team can use

Prepare customer and event data against the decision and information available at the time. Validate segmentation, prediction and recommendations, with explicit experiment and interpretation criteria.
Before listing features, we define the inputs, decisions and next actions in a real working situation.
An illustrative scenario. Specific processing rules are agreed for the project.
A team needs to compare purchasing patterns by customer group.
Present segment characteristics and analysis evidence to the team
When customer patterns are visible but the next action is unclear
Specific features, integrations and operating support are agreed in the project proposal
Details for technical reviewers. Architecture and acceptance criteria are agreed for the actual environment and project scope.
Features contain only information available at prediction time. Separate training and evaluation windows and account for delayed arrivals and labels to prevent future information leaking into training.
Concrete design decisions and acceptance scenarios to agree for the project.
ImplementationEvent time, ingestion time, point-in-time joins
ValidationFuture labels, late ingestion, duplicate-customer leakage
ImplementationCapacity, false-positive cost, calibration
ValidationSelected-cohort quality and campaign constraints
ImplementationHoldout, cost, and opt-out guardrails

Technology choices and acceptance criteria depend on discovery, integrations, and agreed scope. We define reproducible acceptance scenarios and handover evidence for the operating environment.
From visible features to failure conditions,
we work through the decisions before launch.
Define identity links across customers, accounts, and devices, together with event schemas, deduplication keys, and collection grounds. Distinguish event time from ingestion time and handle late, corrected, and deleted records. Review point-in-time joins so training cannot use information that would have been unavailable when the operational prediction was made.
Compare simple rules or recency scores with models such as logistic regression and tree ensembles. Use temporal splits and customer-level leakage checks. Choose metrics for imbalance and operating capacity, such as PR-AUC, precision in the selected cohort, and lift at a usable cutoff. Check probability calibration separately when scores inform budget allocation.
Define scoring cadence and feature freshness for batch or online inference. Send versioned scores, validity windows, and cohorts to the activation system. Keep opt-outs, exclusions, and contact-frequency limits in a policy layer outside the model. Expose reason summaries, data timestamps, missing scores, and expired results to operators.
An improved offline metric does not establish campaign impact. Design holdout or A/B experiments with guardrails such as cost and opt-out behavior. Monitor cohort shifts, feature distributions, and delayed labels. Distinguish the effects of model retraining, threshold changes, and campaign-policy changes when deciding what improved the outcome.
